BOSTON — Extera Partners, a global life science management firm, announced today that Jean-Pierre Capdevielle has joined the firm as an Associate Partner. Mr. Capdevielle brings thirty years of international sales and marketing experience in the orthopedic, spine, and medical device markets, and will further strengthen Extera’s European commercialization services.
“We are very pleased to welcome Jean-Pierre,” said Jonathan Reis, Managing Partner of Extera Partners. “Jean-Pierre’s significant achievements in general management and sales and marketing include some of the largest acquisitions within the medical device industry. In this fragmented business and reimbursement environment, non-European companies need a clear European sales strategy and need on-the-ground executives like Jean-Pierre to help them build a solid European presence and to drive growth.”
“I’m delighted to join the Extera team and assist companies seeking opportunities to expand and grow in Europe. As part of Extera, I can offer to these companies the experience that I have gained over thirty years with some of the most successful large multinational and venture backed medical device companies in the industry,” commented Mr. Capdevielle.
Prior to Extera, Mr. Capdevielle served as Executive VP for Sofamor Danek (acquired by Medtronic), President of Smith & Nephew in Europe, the Chairman of the Board, Director and President of SpineVision, VP Europe for Omrix Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Johnson & Johnson) and VP and Managing Director of international operations for Collagen Corporation (acquired by Inamed).
