Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Orlando, FLA., October 14, 2014 – LENSAR, Inc., a global leader in next generation
femtosecond laser technology for refractive cataract surgery, today announced a new commercial alliance with Precision Eye Services, Inc. PES has launched a full service mobile laser cataract solution to surgeons and their patients, providing access to the LENSAR Laser System along with other market-leading cataract products, on a scheduled, mobile platform.
“Precision Eye Services’ management team has a two decade track record with reliable, high quality mobile laser services,” noted Nicholas T. Curtis, LENSAR’s Chief Executive Officer. “The LENSAR Laser System is perfectly suited for the demands of a mobile service, and we are pleased to be selected as their exclusive technology partner for mobile femtosecond lasers. We look forward to providing access to our laser, together with other cataract products, to an even broader base of surgeons and their patients.”
“We believe the LENSAR technology is perfect for mobilization. This robust platform is both state of the art and simple to use,” commented James Wachtman, PES President. “Patient expectation of laser technology is driving growth in the premium cataract market. Our new mobile offering, built around the LENSAR Laser System, allows us to provide surgeons and facilities the right technology, with the right support, at a very competitive cost.”
In addition to this mobile service offering, the agreement between LENSAR and PES allows PES to sell the LENSAR Laser System directly to customers and continue to provide a fullservice offering.
The LENSAR Laser System is the only femtosecond cataract laser on the market today
developed specifically for refractive cataract surgery and features quick and easy patient
docking, as well as superior imaging capabilities including LENSAR’s proprietary Augmented Reality™ 3-D reconstruction. This technology facilitates enhanced procedure outcomes by allowing the physician to develop individualized treatment plans including precise laser delivery and efficient lens fragmentation that can reduce, and potentially eliminate, phaco energy.
LENSAR has placed over 130 systems with customers around the world since its introduction in July of 2012, and the system has been used in over 40,000 cataract surgery procedures. LENSAR will be demonstrating the LENSAR Laser System at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL, October 18–21, in booth 533. Participating physicians and their staff will be able to gain firsthand experience with the system and speak directly with current users and company leaders throughout the meeting. Additionally, LENSAR has scheduled a variety of interactive and informative events for cataract surgeons including:
• THINK Tank Talks featuring open conversations with Carlos Buznego, M.D., on
Saturday, October 18 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm; and Neel Desai, M.D., on Sunday
October 19 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
• LENSAR Laser System demonstrations and product testimonials from leading refractive
surgeons including William Wiley, M.D., Dee Stephenson, M.D., Denise Visco, M.D.,
and Robert Weinstock, M.D. on October 18 and 19 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
• The LENSAR Docking Derby each afternoon from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, allowing
